I'm so excited for this year! This year I will be focusing on my crafting.

My Crafty Beginnings: My first exposure to art was my grandma's flower shop. She taught me about color and balance. My other grandmother also heavily influenced my crafty side by teaching me how to sew. When I was 12 I spent two weeks with her in Seattle sewing an amazing wardrobe for my American Girl doll, Kit. Regular exposure from my family and organizations like 4-H, Girl Scouts, and Vacation Bible School got my hooked.

My list:
Embroidery
1. Hoopla Wall Piece #1 - "Speak Friend and Enter"
2. Hoopla Wall Piece #2 -
3. Hoopla Wall Piece #3 -
4. Hoopla Wall Piece #4 -
5. Hoopla Wall Piece #5 -
6. Make Mom a hummingbird piece

Sewing
7-12. 5 pillowcases for Charity (One Million Pillowcases Challenge)
Major Goal: Make Summer Wardrobe
13 - 18. Sew 5 sundresses
19 - 24. Sew 5 simple skirts
25 - 30. Sew 3-5 Simple Tees
31. Make Book Tote

Other
50. Try Cheesemaking - Make Mozzerella Cheese

1/50

January:
1.Poppy ATC for spikefan
2. Figure Study ATC for rocking bear ranch
3. DD1's Fairy Princess cushion

I'm going to try to join in, but I'm such a scatter brain, it might not happen. Also I'm not sure ATCs count but they'll be in my list because this year I want to practice, practice, practice my drawing and ATCs are a good way of getting in a lit of practice Smiley

So here's a few things:

WIPs:
1. DDs Fairy Princess cushion (applique and embroidery finished, just have to sew and stuff)
2. 30 squares inchies embroidery (already hit 30yo, need to hurry up and finish)
*Found Some More*
3. Star sampler quilt (all stars made, part way through piecing together)
4. Baby 9 patch quilt (pieced, basted and hand quilting already started)
5. Quilted Wedding Wallhanging (no clue how to continue this one!)

Need to make:
1. New baby's I spy quilt. (DD didn't get hers til she was 2, so there's still time, bubs not even born yet Smiley )
2. New baby's own applique and embroidery cushion.

Want to make:
1. DD1 some easy sewn skirts to test my sewing skill.
2. Ticker Tape quilt wall hanging
3. A complete set of 'flavoured' figure/face drawn ATCs

To answer the question re crafting. I know there were mish mash exposures when I was little but they never amounted to anything. Then I was about 22 when my BF went away long distance for work and I went to a regional campus to study for my career. I was so lonely, I printed out photos and started scrapbooking, which turned into card making, which turned into ATCs, which started me drawing. Then I made my first quilt completely by hand when I was pregnant with my first child. Just out of the blue I decided I'd give it a go and that started the fabric obsession!

I'm in - since I'm trying to stash bust this year, I may as well see how many things I can make with it! Smiley

And as for the question about crafting...
To be honest, I don't remember when I got into crafting. When I was probably about 7, my parents made me a sweet wooden "suitcase" with my name on it, to be my craft supply box. It was full of construction paper, glitter, feathers, pipe cleaners... the stuff young crafters' dreams are made of. This supply box has since blossomed into a craft room (which I can never keep clean).
I don't remember any of the first things I ever made, but there is some photographic evidence of young endeavours:

Painting the dollhouse my parents built me for Christmas one year (I'm thinking I might turn it into a bookshelf one day, since I still have it. Smiley)

I can see it now: "Mom, I need a garbage bag." "For what, dear?" "A Ninja Turtle Costume!"

And my personal favourite, me being ever so thrilled in my Little Mermaid hat. I drew Ariel on EVERYTHING.

And on that note, 50 projects, eh?

First challenge on page one as well...let the crafting begin!!!

Jan-Feb Challenge:

1. Make at three projects using the same color...it can be any medium, fabric, beads, etc. but they must be the same color (each three will count as one entry, so if you do six, you get two entries)
2. Make something for charity or for Random Acts of Kindness (each will count as an entry)
3. Finish a WIP  (it must be on your list to qualify)--each completed WIP counts as an entry

PRIZE: $25 gift certificate to any online place of your choosing

I should try this with the darth vader cross stitch. It might help motivate me! Hmm - or I should perhaps finish my quilt (at least the top!!)

Do we get multiple entries for multiple completed WIPs???

(I am over reaching with this, I'm pretty sure I will be hard pushed to get one finished!!  Grin)

yes, indeed...every single WIP will count as with all of the other challenges...I think I will change the first one to say you will get one entry for every three...so if you make six red things, you will get two entries...if you finish a red WIP, you will get two entries if you make two more red things...make sense? Grin
