I've always wondered - what does skunk smell like?

I really don't know if there is a comparison the best comparison I read said kind of like a mix of body odor and burnt rubber. Very pungent and sharp.

It's an odor that makes you cover your mouth and nose and run!

lol fluffypants...that is a good description! I had no idea there were no skunks in Scotland...I just assumed that all wooded areas had skunks...I hope my dog has learned his lesson.  Although, a lot of my friends say that their dogs have been hit 3 or more times, so apparently, they don't learn!  UGH!

I can't believe I can still smell it, although it is way better now than it was....I will take all the sympathy I can get...Grin.

My dad got sprayed by a skunk once in our chicken coop and my mom made him strip down in the backyard and burn his clothes and wallet, then she hosed him down before she let him come inside.  He used essence of peppermint to curb the stink but it took many many showers to finally get rid of the smell.  It's very pungent.  I ran over a skunk once in my car and it got stuck in the undercarriage so I carried it around with me for DAYS before I realized that it was there.  my car stunk to high heaven, I'm surprised my mom didn't make me burn it!

But seriously, all these photo dumps have made me insanely happy, I love seeing how everyone's creativity blossoms and thanks for sharing all of your fabulous work with us!
