I'm making a rice-filled heating pad, and I wanted to put a cute face on it with buttons. However, I don't know if they are microwave safe. Does anyone know? Do plastic buttons melt if you microwave them for a couple minutes, or form a burn/fire hazard?

Maybe just give the buttons you have a test run before sewing them on?

I'm guessing they wouldn't melt but might get pretty hot.  Definitely try them out before you sew them on.  You could do applique, embroidery or felt instead if you're worried.

I don't think they would melt. I think they would get really hot, and eventually change colors from all the heat.
