My partner, rscowtown, wanted longer than normal fingerless gloves/wrist warmers in the OWS 109 swap.  I have seen longer ones, but they always seemed to bunch up or slide down, so I asked her to send me a couple of measurements and then I used my own arm as a guide to make these for her.

I have knit so many of these, so it was just a matter of figuring out where to decrease (wrist and top of glove) and where to increase (palm of hand area)...I started with 48 stitches on size 2.75mm needles, reduced to 40 by the time I got to the wrist, put in a thumb gussett to increase the palm area.
The upper pattern is from this pattern that I have also made free stitch pattern.  It is super easy and does not require cable needles...it is a mock cable!

I snagged some of rscowtown's fabulous pictures, but here it is on my arm:

Here is the shape of them--they look a bit odd not on an arm:

rscowtown said they fit a little snug on her arm, but they should loosen a bit...if not, she can scrunch them or regift them...I am sure I'll be making her another pair sometimes in the future swaps! Grin

Thanks for looking!

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

Lovely idea to make them longer and of course they would need to be fitted which is hard to do at a distance. Well done.
