While I've done tons of crocheting lately, this is the first project I've shared on here in a long time.  I've done blankets, and a few bags, and lots of amigurumi, but never anything that's needed to be blocked or starched, until now.

I was asked to me an angel tree topper.  This was a free pattern I found online, that I gave a slight variation to. I'm still learning about how to best starch, etc, and this is before one more last round or two, but I'm excited to share this gorgeous 9" angel tree topper with you!

Thanks for looking.  Have a wonderful holiday.

Crochet opens the door to making wonderfully lacy things like the angel's wings and dress yet very solid things like its head. You've done a great job! Have missed seeing you posting. Glad to see you checking in.

I've missed you too. I'm really busy now with a part time job volunteering...seriously like 20 hrs of volunteer work every week doing different things! I know it's not the same as others who do full time work, but it's a big change for me so I'm not on here much at all anymore.

Beautiful! I love angels but have yet to try and make a crocheted one for myself.  I think it's that starching business that has me scared as snowflakes seem challenging enough.  Did you have a form of some kind you were able to dry it on?

The starching was the difficult part for me. I was gonna buy a foam cone at the craft store, but a lady who works there suggested just making a cone out of like the cardboard from gift boxes. So I did that.  I startched it like 4x! I did the wings off, then it said to glue them on, but I sewed them on. That was kinda tricky.  Then, to get the wings to stay out like they are, I attached a saftey pin, and then tied some yarn around it and then pulled it away and attached the other end of the yarn to kitchen cabinets while it dried.
