Last year both my kids got a LEGO Advent Calendar but I think my daughter has grown out of those now.  I could have just gotten them each one with the little chocolates in it but couldn't resist another LEGO one for my son.  I tried to find something more age appropriate for a 14 year old girl but couldn't so I just made my own.

I bought a blank advent calendar kit online and used washi tape to decorate each box and number stickers to label them.

I was thinking of all kinds of little trinkets that I could fill it with other than just candy but those boxes are rather small...  So I decided to make her an Advent Charm bracelet.  The first box has a bracelet in it and each day has a new charm for her to add to the bracelet.

I hope she likes it... 13-14 is kind of a strange age and I can't seem to please her very often!!!

I think this is a great idea for a young lady!

Does the washi tape stick well to the kit base?

It did but I went over the ends with some Mod Podge just to make sure it doesn't peel off when the boxes are going in and out.  I am hoping it will hold up for a few years before it needs to be redone.

Thank you!  I ordered washi tape by the foot on Etsy to save some money and didn't quite have enough so I had to do the middle boxes with a different design and I'm not sure how I feel about it.  The whole time I was kicking myself for not ordering just one more foot!  Especially the candy cane design since I used more to make it line up.

I think it looks great. I just rocked you! I know how it is to please those mid-tweens. Your charm idea is a great one! Then she can be involved for the season personally. And have something to show off at the party  Grin That she helped to create with help from Mom..and a bit of family spirit, there, too. Wonderful art. I love including the kids.

This is awesome!
The middle looks fine - - I thought it was a design choice rather than a miscalculation.
And the charm bracelet is a really cool idea.

Where did you get the kit?

Thanks all!  She wore her bracelet and put the first charm on today.

I bought the blank advent calendar on Amazon.  It came with the calendar and the number stickers.
