I like to hold straight pins in my mouth.

A friend had an idea and I went with it, decided to invest in making a prototype. I used a lightweight ACU fabric with a solid foliage green water resistant fabric for the bottom and sides. Its full of pockets and the same design as all the 80s bags I've been making. I used gun metal D-rings because that's what I had on hand, any other bags this style will have black plastic D-rings. I used a plastic tri-glide to make the adjustable strap. I also put strips of velcro on the front of the bag for badges. I've got a few more styles I'm going to test out soon.

Your bags are always so nicely made and full of details and lots of pockets and pouches for stuff!

I made a similar style bag a few years ago but in a messenger size...I love the buckle type of closures!

Your velcro idea is pretty interesting...what type of badges?  Is it the sticky or the soft side of velcro?

Also, the zipper on the flap...does the pouch go into the flap or down the bag?  I was wondering because someone asked me to put a pouch in the flap but in my mind, it opened upside down...does that make sense? Grin

Thanks so much. The velcro is the soft side only, it is for the military name badges and rank badges.
The zipper on the flap opens into the flap. My reasoning was that once the flap was opened, the zipper pouch would be accessible. With the zipper closed and flap closed the pocket would still be in the right direction to keep items at the bottom and not near the top at risk of spilling out.
