Say THAT 6 times fast Grin

So...I've been on a tiger bender recently.  So, a few months ago, I started working on re-covering an old ugly scratchy fabric computer chair.  I had to back out of the recent Faux Taxidermy swap as my left hand was acting up, and I spent at least 5 weeks resting it.  So...now that I can work with it again, I took the opportunity to join the Fake Swap craftalong and get it finished up.

Oh!  Look at that!  The dogs managed to work their way into the photo yet again!  Clever little monkeys Grin

Here's what it looked like before...and don't judge my cluttered and unvacuumed house Grin

The claws are glow in the dark FIMO on foil frames with a screw imbedded at the end, so I could screw them into the arm.  I also quenched the poly clay in cold water to try and get it as strong as possible.

I was not sure what to do with the eyes...but then I realized the plugs on the sides of the arm rests were missing, so I just hot glued peg eyes into the holes, after trimming the pegs a bit.

The tail was a bit hard to decided on the method of attachment.  I wanted it to be stiff but not too stiff.  I settled on a coat hanger straitened out, covered in cotton batting with a pipe insulator over that.  I used some two part epoxy putty to make sure the coat hanger was good and stuck in.  I was lucky, as there was a hole in the chair back support just where I wanted to drill one Grin.  The wire extended past the end of the cotton batting and the pipe insulator extended past that, so I sealed up the rest of the pipe insulator side and filled the space with plastic bean bag pellets, so the very end is kind of flexible but not soggy.  I plugged the end with a wad of batting.  The skin is just a tube with the end rounded.  The tail is the only thing sewn by machine.  All the rest is just sew directly onto the chair by hand.  The tail hangs just right over the back of the chair, so i didn't have to attache it in anyway.  The ears are inch foam from a package, cut into the ear shape and covered by the fur.

When i bought the material...many many moons ago...like 4 moves ago, I was going to make tiger pants...just to wear around the house Grin.  I decided to not cover the back of the chair so I could save some to do another thing with.  I might pin stuffies to the back as a way to display them and pay homage to BirdBones stuffie throne.  It will live in my laboratory and from hence forth be called THE CHAIR OF UBER CONTEMPLATION!!!

Thanks for looking Grin

Now that is one way to skin a tiger...surreal...what a delight to be able to sit in that chair!

I love the claws and the tail!

The idea of using the back to display some items is a good one!

I am so glad your "partner" did not flake on you!
