I want to do something to my wall.  I'm probably going to paint it.  I'm just not sure what type of design.  Do you have any ideas?

Something like this: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=24558.0

I just don't want to copy it.  I want to do something different.

The possibilities are endless. You could make up a blank template for the wall.  Measure everything and draw it to scale, so that it just about fills a piece of letter paper.  If the shelves, clock, etc, are where you want them, include them in the drawing.  Now photocopy the template a few times.

Use these sheets to try out some ideas.  You can use markers, crayons, paints, whatever.  It will help you visualize a design and see what the impact of various colors will be.

Oh yes indeedy the possibilities are literally ennnnndless...
There are dozens of ideas & tips online too -- or, just stop into several paint stores, or large crafts stores, or DIY centers such as Lowe's/Home Depot/ etc, or even Walmart's paint & crafts sections  and you'll find all sorts of free brochures & many other ideas.

>> Here's a nice one you might be able to adapt in some way to make it uniquely yours  :

>> Most of the ones at the following link probably aren't applicable to your situation, but I really like the last two (bottom of page)  -- the string idea (maybe instead of an actual picture, allover random curvy designs?)  & the texture-y torn-brown-bag "wallpaper" (I'd guess it doesn't even have to be brown bags or brown wrapping paper, maybe it could be any type of paper as long as it's reasonably sturdy?) :
