Tomorrow I plan to begin renovating our downstairs half bathroom; my decorating scheme is "Wunderkammer" or "Cabinet of Curiosities."  This is the bathroom we use most frequently and also the one which visitors use, so I'd like it to be interesting, if not fascinating.  Smiley  Currently it is quite bleak.  White walls, dark brown trim.

The room is dominated by this old Disneyland poster that my husband inherited from a friend.  We hate Monsanto, so we want to get rid of it.  There's also a huge bulletin board, which is kind of weird to have in a bathroom...  Tongue

The floor is especially sad, as I used the wrong kind of vinyl floor tile and it is all coming up:

The light fixture is also pretty tragic.  Seems like there ought to be something else on that wall...We purchased the house in a rudimentary form which included only the cheapest fixtures.  Now that we actually own the house, I'd like to fix it up some by replacing with better quality fixtures and decorating it a bit.

I will be updating this thread with my plan and progress.

Any ideas, advice, or links to interesting spaces would be greatly appreciated!   Smiley

Floor sucks. But you have good bare bones for this project. And floor always comes last in the project...so you can screw up the old one and not worry about it, in the process of the other parts.

I don't mind the lighting. But I am a clown. Reminds me of a dressing room.  Grin Maybe matte paint the outer metal parts of it? I like to use the stove black paint. Stuff tissue in the bulb holes. You could even splatter spritz it, so the brass still shows a bit. As in go in the lawn, spray in the air, and catch it  Grin

Bulletin board in the bath? Not so weird. But maybe if you wish, relocate it to the inside of a closet door? Depending on what you keep there on the board. Not too personal? Then ehhh. who cares? Just give it a fancy border, and turn it into artwork.  Cheesy

Poster should go. I am glad you both agree there.

You both have certainly been busy. I know what it is to renovate a home. Best of luck for your additional travels.

Took everything off the walls and took up most of the remaining tile.  The next step is to buy and install a window!

Not sure what you're planning for the walls, but check out this wallpaper idea. That would give people something to look at for sure!

Ooh, and another one.

Okay, now I'm lost on Pinterest again...

Digging that wallpaper!!  Wow!

Ludi, with your stunning embroidery skills, I'm picturing "taxidermy" of the most curious kinds.... lots of stumpwork and wire armature.  Your "FeeJee Mermaid" comes to mind.  Wink

Thanks, bunny!  I think the room will also be inhabited by many pieces from other Craftsters which fit this theme.  Smiley
