I'm not sure how many of you awesome crafters have heard, but September 2 was World Art Drop Day and I just had to show you some of the goodies I left scattered about the pacific northwest for some lucky strangers to find! I sent 20 pieces of random art from full page oil paintings to mini charcoal sketches into the world and I can't wait to find out if any of them got good homes~

Can't wait for next years art drop, I've already begun to create art for it and I'm hoping for at least 50 pieces if not 100! I really hope some of you will join in and help make next years Art Drop even more successful!

So much spectacular art released into the world!!  I hope you hear back from the lucky finders of your art, let us know Smiley

I'm currently working on a Random Acts of Art with my local Art Society, I'll have to make a note of World Art Drop Day for next year Smiley

@cackle: It was quite a bit of work, but I figured since I'm already giving art away all the time why not take it up a notch and give it away to some strangers~

@alteredmommy: I'm glad you like my art~ I actually forgot to leave business cards in most the packages so I won't be too surprised if I don't hear back but I'm still super hopeful.  Either way around this entire process has tremendously boosted my confidence in my art and I have decided I'm going to try and fulfill my lifelong dream of being a struggling artist and actually put some of my art for sale.

Random Acts or Art? That sounds super fun, How does it work??

Random Acts of Art or Art Abandonment is pretty much what you did, make art and leave it for people to find.  I am the VP of my local art council, most of the people in the council make and sell art and are always fascinated by my tales of art swapping and abandoning.  I think they were kind of horrified at first at the thought of just leaving their art (for free!) out there, but now everyone is getting into it as an exercise in letting go Cheesy  Micheal DeMeng has a great Art Abandonment group on Facebook for anyone interested!
