I was shopping in IKEA when I found the paper LÄTER lamp on sale for €0.90, because apparently the red one is end of range. 90 cents? I couldn't find the hardware that cheap if I tried! I deciced to give painting the lamp a go, and if it didn't turn out nicely, I'd get rid of the paper and try making a fabric shade.

The elvish lettering spells out the full name (first, middle and last) of the friend this lamp will be going to. I did realise afterwards that I should have made my sketch on a curved piece of paper to then trace, instead of a straight piece of paper, but it was to late to go back! :-/ Still, I think it turned out okay. My husband on the other hand seems very happy that I didn't make this for our own home as he doesn't like it... I knew it wouldn't be his style, so no shocker there, but he doesn't think I should include it in the box of gifts for my friend either. Still not sure what to do!

I like the shiny gold of the lettering against the matte colors of the shade.
