I invested in a new sewing machine so I could quilt. Decided to dip toes in and start small. A mug rug.

Far from perfect, but I did learn loads and I do like it.
Awaiting the arrival of some wadding so I can make more.

Use what talent you possess - the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best

Hi Kookie hope you're well.

Me too, that's why I opted for the stencil. Made it so much easier, but not sure I could be bothered with this on a big quilt.

I'm hoping by the time I do a big quilt I'll have improved on the fmq.

I like your quilting, how it has flowers and so many curves.
Did you use a basic sewing machine or a special one for quilting?

My machine is a Husqvarna Viking e20.
So not specialised for quilting, but does drop feed dogs and did come with a couple feet for quilting 1/4" and darning foot.

I love your doodle quilting!  You are very brave to start your quilting experience with your own design for free motion quilting!

Lovely job...can't wait to see more of your exploration into quilting!

You say "scientist or artist?" like they're mutually exclusive.
