Members of my family run a couple microbreweries.  They sent me a box full of grain bags.  I am upcycling them into bags and things.  This is a prototype for a messenger bag.

I need to mess with the proportions a bit but I do like how the round flap came out.  It currently doesn't have a closure.  Does it need one?  Magnetic? Button?  Velcro?  Suggestions please.

More pics on my blog.  http://twasbrilligand.blogspot.com/2014/08/prototype.html

Really cool idea. I have a friend who would love this even more. I wonder if some of my local microbreweries would share their grain bags....hmmm.

For the closure...what will it be used for? Apples that can roll out? Then, I would say yes. Books from the library, probably not necessary. Smaller purse style items...yes. For that maybe an underneath zipper might be a good idea.

Very neat bags. I like the flap, too.

This is so pretty! I love the contrast between the pink and white. Great idea to repurpose a grain bag  Smiley

How cool!! I feel very guilty now for letting my husband toss his grain bags that he brings home from the homebrew shops. This bag is great! I'm very inspired to try my hand an upcycled project like this now Smiley Thanks for sharing!
