Note from the Headmistress...

I seem to have gotten a little behind with the holidays approaching.  I promise to be back to do the HPC Prize Drawing tomorrow!

Note from the Headmistress...
Finally, there are a few more last minute honors to bestow.  Some of your fellow Craftsters have donated their time and prodigious skill to create PRIZES for you students.

HPC Participant Prize
Our first three prize winners were pulled out of the Sorting Hat, from among ALL of the people who participated in this semesters magic.

Ms. AugustBell of Ravenclaw House,  who has won a a customized glow-in-the-dark Patronus Charm Bracelet from MistressJennie on Etsy!  The winner can choose their own patronus animal, or one of those featured in any of the HP books.

Ms. J_Kieviet of Hufflepuff House, who has won a CUSTOM friendship bracelet with up to 25 strings from Knotty Gurl Designs on Etsy!

Ms. Abbeeroad of Gryffindor House,  who has won a crocheted charger pocket in the House colors (or two other colors of her choosing), custom-made to the size of her mobile phone by Naantje.

And so everyone knows the drawing was done fairly, here are thumbnails of the student lists and numbers drawn on Random.org.

Detention Drawing
Next, the award for the student who has reformed their behavior best in Detention.  This semester's winner (randomly drawn from all those who posted a Detention project) is...

Ms. Magpirate of Ravenclaw House,
who has won a copy of The Sorcerer's Companion, full of fun facts and history on the many topics covered in the Harry Potter novels.

And so everyone knows the drawing was done fairly, here are thumbnails of the student lists and numbers drawn on Random.org.

Award for Special Services to the School
Each semester we draw prizes from among those who attained their OWLs and NEWTs.  This semester's winner is...

Ms. tiamatfire, of Gryffindor House, who has won an utterly fantastic hand bound book created by our one and only noodle-bug!

And so everyone knows the drawing was done fairly, here are thumbnails of the student lists and numbers drawn on Random.org.

Congratulations to each and every one of you on your hard work this semester!
***For each of you who have won a prize, please PM your mailing address to me, so I can have the correct prize sent on to you.***

Note from the Headmistress...

I wanted to give you all a glimpse into how prize drawings are done each semester.

If any of you bother to check the thumbnails lists in the prize drawing above, you might notice that some folks have a strikethrough over their name within the lists.  When I create the lists of students eligible to win the 3 different prize drawings, I pull from the list of all students to participate in the HPC, the students who completed a detention (one entry per detention post), and the students who completed an OWL or NEWT (one entry per completed project), respectively.

Next, I cross out the folks who won a prize during the previous semester's drawing.  This is not because I don't like them! Rather it is because even though I use Random.org to draw numbers, somehow Random always seems to want to pick the same folks over and over.  No idea how or why, but it does.  Since it would be unfair for the same person to win every semester, and others to never win, I make folks who have just won, ineligible for the following semester.  After that "semester out", they are eligible to win again.

Next, I start with the smallest pool of possible winners, the OWLs & NEWTs.  That person is drawn, and then their name is crossed out for the Detention & HPC drawings, since again, Random.org likes to somehow pick the same people again and again.  I follow that by doing the Detention Drawing, and again crossing out the winners on the HPC Drawing list, so that the last drawing includes just those who have not won during the previous semester, and who have not won one of the other drawings in the same semester.

Finally, I pair winners, with prizes, based on their locations and shipping preferences of those who donate prizes.

And that was your random look into Mistress Jennie's day.  Cheerio.   Smiley
