I haven't done an expo but my understanding is that most people attending are looking for information and freebies.  The crafters I've talked to don't seem to think they are at all worthwhile.  That goes for the baby and wedding ones as well.

Yikes! That for sure sounds more like a commercial vendor fee. But high even for that. The most I've spent was $600 for 3 days at a big campout music festival in CA (where I live). It was a great festival with big name bands, but the cost was too high for the sales I got. I can do the same $$ at a show half that expensive, I feel like they are charging for fest tickets on top of the booth for this one. I can't stand 1 day events usually, like the OP said... takes the same effort to set up for 2-3 days as for 1. I'm working on streamlining my setup (it's huge, I make clothing) for some small 1-day events in my home town. We'll see how it goes!
