Team Craftster, Anyone?

The D/L:  (that's Down Low, just incase you didn't know Wink )

Basically it's a week of Spin until you drop, and as much as  you possibly can.  It's October 6-12. It's a way's off, but if I register our team (which needs to happen before the 15th.)

There seems to be a few things I've got to look into to make this happen legitimately... I didn't notice them before... But I'll get the deets straightened out!

I heard about this. The lady who organizes our local spin group was wanting to know if I would get in on this with her and some people from Ruidoso, have a semi-local group. If that doesn't happen then I guess I could join Team C-ster. I can't join both, can I?

Well, from the sounds of it, we can play along informally as a team and we can join teams that are local, or just be Registered Rogue Spinners.  I think what we'd do is have our thread here, and have a few prizes that would be associated with Craftster.  If you are registered as a Rogue Spinner, then you're still eligible for the Spinzilla prizes as well.

I've gone and signed up for Spinzilla, rogue spinner!!  I'll lead the team here, and am happy to say there will be PRIZES!!  If you want to donate a prize as well, let me know!

Prize list:

1- Craftster Mug!
2- Spinning fibre from SpinHeartSpin

So far that's it, but there could be more!

I'll get a team roster going for us, too.  To be a part of our team, you don't have to register officially with Spinzilla, just let me know here and I will add you to our roster. (I'm not sure why you wouldn't register, tho, since you can get prizes from them too!)

Spinzilla starts on Monday! Is everyone still playing along?  I know I am.

Also, since we have two prizes, and (so far) only two team members besides myself (and I already have a mug, and I can't really award myself a prize from my shop....) It looks like so long as everyone spins something, even one skien, everyone gets a prize! Wink

day 1!
did anyone else get their spinning done?  I got about 7oz spun. I don't know yardage yet, as I'm going to not waste time figuring that out just yet! Must keep spinning!

I don't know how much I got done, but it wasn't a whole lot. I have spun everyday so far though, which lately is doing pretty good.

I feel like I'm in the same boat, Mel! though I'm feeling pretty pumped about finishing the green yarn.

I'm diving into the hot chocolate batts I blended up last winter. They just can't languish any longer! Wink That'll happen tomorrow. Hopefully I can get all 6 batts done by friday night...

I need to get a picture of my progress. I just finished up a single, that is part of a 2 ply. Now I just need to spin the other single and ply them together.

Spinzilla 2014 - Day 4 by SpinHeartSpin, on Flickr

my hot chocolate batts are so squishy! I love them spun up Cheesy  This is 4+ ounces of woollen squishiness so far. And I'm working on another 2+ today. It'll be 6 ounces of 2 ply.

And now I feel like a slacker. I've spun maybe 2.5 to 3 oz.

Awe! Don't feel that way! There are other life things that have to happen (like laundry and kid chasing and everything else) that get in the way.  I stayed up way past my bed time to spin, and am paying for it in other ways.

Yesterdays efforts are pretty amazing tho.. But I didn't have to leave the house.  I think that helped.

So here's what I've gotten done so far.

One finished single:

And a single I'm working on:

They both are the exact same fiber, just prepared in different ways. The first is a little over 2 oz spun from rolags.

The bottom is spun from top blended on a hackle and then dizzed off.

I finished the previous single and then spun up this single after the kids had gone to bed. It is around 3 oz I think.

Yay yarn! well done Mel!

I got distracted at the end there!  This is my final picture, minus the green yarn, it went to a new home before i remembered I needed a picture.

ETA: My final yardage spun (including ply tally) was 2648 yards!

I suppose that wraps up Spinzilla 2014 for Craftster! Thanks for playing along, Meleriffic!

Wow! You got a lot done. I got a tiny bit of a batt spun just before Spinzilla ened, but I didn't get it finished. I'm still working on it actually. But it's more spinning than I've done in a while, and other than yesterday, I've spun every day since Spinzilla began. Hopefully I can keep it up.

I learned that I've been wasting my spare time. I can't believe how much yarn I've spun in just a week, and mainly in my spare time. there were only 2 days of 7 that I had the full day to spin. I'm sure only half of the yarn was spun on those two days.
