My first post here!

I was asked to decorate and donate a chair for auction for our local Ronald McDonald House Chair-ity event.

I had a specific idea in mind, but I couldn't find a second-hand chair with enough empty working space. When I found this chair with all it's flourishes, I decided to make it work with a very San Antonio/Fiesta theme.  The event is in July and I can't wait to see what the other artists are bringing.

The chair, post-priming/pre-painting:

And a close up of the flourishes:

I started to sketch in some more flourishes for the seat:
Filling it in:
And, finally, ready for a coat of poly and a trip to the donation site!

This is not normally my strength. I love painting, but I usually stick with sewing, embroidery and crocheting. This chair, however, will be hard to part with...I might have to make another for myself.

Wow, that is amazing!!  I would love that in my craft room.  I hope it brings in a huge amount for the RMH.

A chair-ity, how clever. Love it! Don't usually like the bright Fiesta colors in San Anotnio, but since I've been going down every year for a Fiesta event (ALSA Charity in April) I'm learning to appreciate them more. Black and neon seem to be getting very popular in general, too. This chair brings it all together very nicely. I can see it being a star piece in someone's craft room. If you do make another, make sure you post here so we can see that one too!
