Stay tuned!

Harry witnessed Professor McGonagall walking right past Peeves who was determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier and could have sworn he heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth 'It unscrews the other way.

SummerSemester 2014: History of Magic
"Time for History of Magic? Good, I've been needing a nap."
    An unidentified Hogwarts student

Completed Homework:Before the installation of wizarding schools for young witches and wizards, each wizarding family tended to have its own "trade." Take the Ollivanders for example...their high level of wandmaking skill is credited to learning the craft from their elders, generation after generation. Each generation building upon the knowledge of those before them. This summer craft something inspired by something you have learned from your own elders or family members. Did you learn to knit from your mother or aunt? Knit some coasters in honor of this special bond! Did your father instill a love for cooking? Make one of the first recipes he taught you!

Gryffindor - Mistress Jennie

Ravenclaw - noodle-bug, netchez, Magpirate, BadWolf314, FiberAlchemist, vincentvanbuck

Hufflepuff - Nicajeanie, AnnoyingBigSister, NathanielM93, Moonflame

- calliemae, ErinAquaheart, margaron, Naantje, TechnicolorAquaheart

: Option 1-Create 4 different items, one item for each house, these items should reflect your interpretation of the characteristics of each house.  Option 2-Craft 3 items which represent 3 characters with Harry Potter.   Option 3-Craft something using a vintage pattern, material, or technique.

Summer Semester 2014: Muggle Studies
I'll fix it up with Mum and Dad, then I'll call you. I know how to use a fellytone now"
"A telephone, Ron," said Hermione. "Honestly, you should take Muggle Studies next year...

― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Completed Homework: Wizards and Muggles alike both enjoy keeping photographs to record memories but have you seen those muggle photographs? They don't even move! Since summer is a time for exploring and traveling and making memories we will be studying the Muggle craft of Photography. Craft something that includes a photograph you have taken or a photograph that has you in it! Not your style? Pick one of your favorite photographs and study its light and form...craft something inspired by this photograph but be sure to include the photograph for reference when turning in your homework.

Gryffindor - rockmygypsysoul, WhistleFish

Ravenclaw - noodle-bug

Hufflepuff - midkiffsjoy, vincentvanbuck

- Inselaeffchen

: We all know the Tales of Beetle Bard, but did you know that muggles have a vast array of fantastical stories?  The most fascinating are known to muggles as fairy tales.  Study these tales and craft something inspired by them.

Good luck and good crafting!  *NOTE: You will only be able to win one box and I will not be repeating winners between the CoMC and Divination classes.*

June: The Snidget has highly prized golden feathers and jewel-like eyes.  Craft something that uses or reflects a highly prized item.

AcadianDriftwood: What a wonderful looking pizza! Yum for all the prized veggies!

July: The Snidget is perfectly round.  This months extra credit is to create something that reflects the spherical nature of this amazing little bird!

August: In honor of both the Snidget and the Quidditch World Cup, this months extra credit will reflect our love of both.  Craft an object that reflects the snidget's vital roll in the game of Quidditch.  This can include anything snidget, gold, flying, or quidditch related!

Welcome to Divination

The mighty oak and the healing mistletoe are our focus this semester.

Extra Credit

Extra credit will be available throughout the semester and can be turned in at any time during the summer term.  Students who delve into the extra credit assignments available will be entered to win a random craft box at the end of term, with one entry per extra credit assignment that they complete.  This means that you will have the opportunity to be entered three times during the semester. I will be drawing two winners at the end of the semester.  *NOTE: you cannot win more than once. And I will not repeat winners between the classes of Divination and CoMC!*

June: The mistletoe that is found with live oak is used for its healing benefits.  The berries used to be used to make a tea that was thought to relieve and heal many ailments.  This is one of the overlooked aspects of divination...as a healing magic... Please focus your inner eye on a craft that brings healing or soothing qualities to yourself or another.

AcadianDriftwood: Love the boot planters... gardens are great places to reach out with your inner eye!

July: Mistletoe is believed to, when tied to a bed's headboard, to inspire beautiful dreams.  What are your beautiful dreams? Create something that reflects your beautiful dream.

August: Though Dendromancy often only uses the oak and mistletoe it is good to remember that other trees can help us divine the future as well.  Observe the trees around you and focus your energy into showing what you feel the future hold for you.  Craft something that can help you in the future you see for yourself.
