You are here to learn the subtle science and exact art of potion making, I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses ... I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death -- if you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach. - Severus Snape

Our usual Charms & Herbology professor has decided to take a term off this spring , and so Professor Noodle-bug has drafted in an old (really old) family friend to fill in.
Madame Suppléer is the ghost of a Beauxbatons professor - being non-corporeal, she has difficulty using a computer, but you can communicate about any homework and exam questions or inspiration with her via noodle-bug, or by ouija board (en français, s'il vous plaît!

Had a Craftastrophe? gauge gone wrong, sunken soufflé or twisted thread?
You need
Team Dobby

Dobby leaps in at the last minute and saves the day, providing Gillyweed, a helping hand and a kind word. This is where Team Dobby gets it's inspiration!

Join Team Dobby by showing us how you saved your own craft from disaster by changing your plan to get moving forward again.
For example; did you spill drink on your bridal doll-dress half-way through sewing? That's ok, as long as you re-purposed the fabric to make an awesome aged-look piece instead!

If you can't rethink your craftastrophe, that's ok. It's easy to get downhearted and uninspired when things go wrong. That's one of the reasons the HPC is a wonderful place; there's always someone to help lift your mood and bounce ideas off of!
Post your problem, we'll try to come up with some suggestions... use one of those, or an idea of your own to turn your craft around and share the final results with us!
Both you, and everyone who makes a suggestion to help you out, gets to proudly bear the title; You're a member of Team Dobby

Make some socks!  Grin

Now! Let us get our hands dirty and learn how to care for our  FWOOPER.  First thing first. Name your  FWOOPER!

Extra Credit Available this Semester:

Any student that completes the main assignment and ALL the extra credit available during the semester will receive a crafty care package.  It will include an ATC of original art plus a small RANDOM assortment of crafty supplies.  This can include but is not limited to papercrafts, stickers, beads, craft chunks, and/or yarn. It will be a complete surprise.

April Extra Credit:
SILENCING SPELLS READY?!?! As I informed you at the beginning of the semester we would be needing to renew the silencing spells on your Fwoopers in order to continue studying them without going insane.

EC#1: Please renew your silencing spell on your Fwooper by completing a craft that helps block or silences noise.  Remember we do NOT want to hear the song of the Fwooper at this time!

May Extra Credit:
OH THE INSANITY!!!Well, it seems not all of us have been practicing our silencing spells. So I think this may be a good time to focus on how to treat the addled brain that has been exposed to the Fwooper's song for too long!

EC#2: Focus your crafting energies to create something that gives you or someone else peace, comfort, or relaxation.  Remember that we want to counter the insanity caused by the Fwooper.

Hello and welcome to Astronomy, this term we will be studying the lovely star cluster known as the Pleiades. It is a pleasure to have you all here and I can't wait to see what crafty magic the Pleiades inspire in you.

Completed Coursework: This term we will be studying the Pleiades, a cluster of stars found near Taurus the bull. According to Greek mythology, the Pleiades were companions Artemis the virgin goddess of the hunt. According to some myths they were placed in the sky as stars by Zeus shortly after their father Atlas was condemned to carry the world and they became deeply saddened. Other versions of the tale state that they were turned into stars by Zeus to allow them to escape from Orion. Your job this term is to either take something negative (either negative emotions or objects that you are not particularly fond of) and turn it into something positive/beautiful or to make something with seven parts. You may also, if you so wish, do some research of your own and make something that relates to another myth about the Pleiades.

WistleFish~ Easy Crochet Ribbed Scarf
rockmygpsysoul ~ Mums (for Haleigh)

Audania1~ Blackberry Jam
noodle-bug ~ Learning to Draw

Advanced Studies *Note that only advanced study projects completed during the current term will be displayed under the completed OWL and NEWT headers*
Proposed OWLs: Option 1-Craft a star chart.  Option 2-Interpret the solar system into a craft.  Option 3-It is believed that we can only see 5% of the universe, the rest is made up of Dark Matter and Dark Energy which is invisible to us. Create something where at first glance you can only see a small portion, but when you look closer you can find the rest of the details.

Quidditch Pitch!!

image from google

For this semester I've changed the concept a bit. I'll invite you to recycle, reuse, repurpose, rearrange, and be resourceful!

The points you make will be for your house. The points you take away you must choose one of the other 3 Houses.

You can score a goal (10 pts) by crafting with a thrifted object.
Ex : my beloved kids pants from sweater sleeves. A pair of yoga pants from a maternity pants. Transform a birdhouse from a yard sale.
You can also score a goal by rearranging a room to make it more functional.
By opting to by to buy used instead of new (a couch, a coat!) and put your personal touch to it.

You can hit with a bludger (take away 10 pits from another House) by using your stash.
Use all that yarn your great aunt gave you. And that fabric you bought *cough* 4 years ago.
By re-purposing a piece of furniture.
By doing something with all those toilet paper rolls.

For this semester, you'll only be able to catch a snitch once (150pts), with a Quidditch related project.

Gryffindor: -90
Hufflepuff: -30
Ravenclaw: -50
Slytherin: -70

blupaisan hits gryffindor
AD hits S
sammylouise hits R
Erin scores for S
Midskiffjoy scores for G
Antbee hits someone but we don't know who!
AD goal for H and hits G
samash90 hits 3 houses
Inselaeffchen hits G
Moonflame hits the 3 houses
Moonflame hits S
coulsini hits G
Erin hits G and H
Moonflame hits Gryff twice and once each other houses
Maman Tattoo hits the 3 other houses once
Gaudiknight hits S
Moonflame hits S and G and scores for H
Calliemae hits G and H
Moonflame hits The snakes
Gaudiknight scores for the Puffs

Any course, owls and newts and house unity are elligible for quidditch points. You can also submit stand-alone Quidditch project. However, Quidditch points does not count as House points.

Flying: In order to better your flying aptitude this semester, you must study a creature that is able to fly on its own, magical or not. See how elegantly a pegasus take its flight, how sturdy is the hippogriff. Look at a bird's or a pixie's wings and create something that depict a flying creature or wings.

It's been such a long, cold winter that even this dalek was longing for warmth and cosiness.  In a strange twist, the sorting hat picked up on this, and he was consequently sorted into our house!

Don't be alarmed by his mutterings of "EXTERMINKNIT."  I believe he's just befuddled by the pattern.

Welcome to Gaudiknight and Sammylouise40, our new Hufflepuffs!!!!

It's party time once again in our lovely common room!  All are welcome, regardless of house.  But if you're here to shush us, remember what happened to Loki when he tried last semester.  Grin

Please beware of dorkily dancing Doctors!

Captain Jack invites you to simultaneously dance and warm your bum by the fire.
