Recently, I made a few cross stitch projects for my swap partners.

I made this little Dorothy. The design in by Brooke's Books Publishing. I love the design, especially the intricate way the shades of blue simulated plaid. I hope to complete the whole Oz series for myself.

I think my favorite is the silver shoes. I ended up adding some more backstitching because I used white aida that blended with the sleeves and apron.

For the Box of Sunshine swap, I stitched Funshine Bear because we both love 80's cartoons and a Mill Hill Sun ornament.

This was my first attempt at beadwork. I had to customize the pattern because I struggled with the bead colors which makes it one of a kind.

Those are all awesome, but the Dorothy hoop is really great. What other Oz designs are in the book?

It's not from a book. The company sells the patterns individually but you can connect the characters together by lining up the bricks from the Yellow Brick Road. I omitted the gold bricks under Dorothy's feet.

But Brooke's Books Publishing came out with Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Oz, Glinda, Wicked Witch, and the cutest little Flying Monkey wearing aviation glasses.

Love Funshine Bear!

Me too! He is always organizing the adventures. He reminds me of my sister, Sunshine. She had a Funshine Bear etched mirror.

Well, that's awesome! I'm always looking for handmade gift ideas for our Auntie since Gran passed. They make her cry, lol, it's wonderful. We used to gather at Grandma and Grandpa's house every year to watch The Wizard of Oz, she'd let me put my head in her lap and would stroke my hair until I'd fall into a pleasure coma, ha!  Dorothy and all her friends will make a lovely nostalgic gift. And if I start now I might be finished in a year or two, lol!

The Care Bear and spiral sun are great too Smiley.

Thank you for sharing the story. My Grams is originally from Kansas and she collected Oz things. I always associate Wizard of Oz with her too which is why I love it so much.

Thank you so much everyone!
