I made this for pottermouth in the Artist Trading block Swap.
I know she has an obsessive mild interest in Harry Potter and so I asked myself a lot of 'what if?' questions and the one that clicked
with me was, what if shards of the Philosopher's Stones survived? What would Dumbledore do with them if they weren't destroyed?
I thought perhaps he might honor the memory of his old friend Nicholas Flamel and so I decided to make a reliquary for the fragments.

The wood is butternut cut to size for an ATB. I cut a slice off of the front, cut those in half and made doors for the front.
I attached them with hinges. Oh, and I hollowed out the inside. It was a bit of a pain, since I did everything a bit out of sequence
(which is what happens when inspiration hits) and basically just wood burned the heck out of the whole thing.

I've had that tiny bottle for at least 15 years. (No, I am not a hoarder)  Cheesy   I put some Czech glass beads in a baggy, wrapped them in a paper towel and
smashed the heck out of them!

The bottle comes out to reveal two larger shards of the stone inset into the wood.

I finished it with mineral oil and beeswax.
So maybe there are a few shards of that stone kicking around in the cellars of Hogwarts......

This is AMAZING. Lucky Pottermouth! I immediately had to pin this and hit the "This Rocks" button. Beautiful work, sooooooo gorgeous and I just love all the wood burning work.

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

This is absolutely incredible. The shear detail on this project is mind boggling. Incredible.
