I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

If you haven't been eyeing the awesome ATB's being posted in the ATB Swap gallery, go there now! Some amazing work is being shared and there is more to come!

I hadn't heard of Artist Trading Blocks, which lead me to research them, then make a trial block to figure these things out. Well, along comes Wulf and mentions blocks not doing anything at all...so THAT got me wondering if I could make a block to play with. Hmmm.Lucky for me, I was partnered with the magnificent cackle who has a very inspiring Pinterest.

The front of the block began with a tissue paper background that I painted with acrylics, pastels, and ink. There's an articulated mermaid, seed beads, glitter, shells, ric-rac, meshy plastic-y net thing from my oranges, wool...

Cackle took a hilarious action shot!

The top is paper, a sponge, more shells, yadda yadda.

One of the sides is decorated with papers, ink, etc., etc., and a shell with a message in a bottle.

The back is a sputnik urchin:

You open the urchin flap to reveal an undersea scene:

and a Water Baby!

The final side has the frightened mermaid trying to escape from something tentacled:

Push the anchor up and OH GEEZ! it's a giant squid!

And because the flap wouldn't stay shut, I added a key to hold it in place.

Whew!
