For those who have never seen the BBC science-fiction series Dr. Who, the TARDIS is often depicted as a Bobby Box from the early 1900's, but is actually a space-time travel machine that's larger on the inside than it is on the outside. From a science fiction point of view, its a concept that involves multiple dimensions. Patterns appropriate to multi-dimensional space-time include tesselation, tesseracts, and some other intersting tiling patterns. Penrose tiles and fractal patterns might be interesting too. If you are looking for something more referential, pattern-wise, maybe a nice bobby box pattern?
