I found this wooden bowl at the thrift store and I knew it would be great with some Mod Podge and paper modifications. It didn't take long to decided what to do with it. We had bought a bunch of little plastic animals for our toddler for Christmas and I wanted to use this bowl to put the animals in for her. I initially was looking for some wrapping paper like I used to find at an art store but the craft stores had nothing like it. Then I thought about using old, used story books. When I couldn't find anything that suited me I decided to just print out what I wanted instead.

My daughter has several Charley Harper books, cards and other items and we love the art so that's what I looked for online. I simply modified it a bit in Photoshop and then printed it out, cut it up and glued it on. I painted the top black and then Mod Podged the whole thing a couple times over. It didn't line up perfectly as the bowl is a little uneven, but I doubt a toddler will notice that!

Great project!  Yes, that before picture was just begging for a makeover Smiley.  I really like the black rim which makes all the print pop and gives it a finished touch.

I"m a craftaholic on the road to recovery.

Just kidding!!!  I'm on the road to the craft store.  Cheesy

Wow, you really improved it!
I love the pictures you used, it's so whimsical and PERFECT for a toddler. Smiley
I'm really tempted to do this with some wooden bowls I was given, haha. I don't know what sort of paper I'll use, though...

Awesome! You made it so bright and colorful.  Smiley

I hope you don't mind, but I moved one of your "after" pictures to be the first picture shown so it shows up in the thumbnail. I think people will see it and want to click on your thread. It's way prettier than your "before" photo.
