Welcome To The Kitchens!

Sugar And Spice Challenge
Post your baking, cooking, and drinks recipes that include sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, rosemary or sage in the recipe.

The kitchen challenges do not have a deadline, though more challenges will be added throughout the semester. And there will be a badge for each one  Smiley

Everyone's awesomeness is blowing me away! So much wonderful new ideas!!

Class: CoMC
House: Gryffindor!
Project name: Unicorn Yule sweater
desc.: I took the faithful owlet pattern and created unicorn colorwork instead of cabled owls. It's a size 5, for my daughter!

Class: Join DA: Fear of a name catch-up
House: Gryffindor!
Project name: Watercolor
desc.: I LOVE watercolor art but never really been able to embrace it. I found a little take-along watercolor box at the store last year and bought it, but was still afraid of using it. I finally took the plunge one night when the boys were asleep and my daughter was eguerly requesting to paint with me. We made those:

Oh I adore that sweater, you did a fantastic job with it!  Very "little girl" without being wildly pink or ruffly.

Yay! I'm glad everyone else is excited about the card exchange too! I don't have a lot of friends and I love Christmas cards so I'm thrilled I'll be getting more than usual this year!

Alright, so I'm going to try to keep up with commenting on everyone's projects this semester. Please forgive me if it doesn't last though...

@Avesthel: Welcome back! The Gryffindor common room has missed you! Lovely mitts! I am still terrible at knitting so any little bit of it amazes me. I love the chunky yarn!

@Moonflame: Those hexies are adorable! I love the color changing yarn! You must be quite good at casting those color-changing charms. Wink

@noodle-bug: Gorgeous hat! The wrinkly-ness of it reminds me of the sorting hat! Smiley Also, you can still join and just send locally (not to international members). Unless of course you are across the sea, in which case, it probably wouldget a little bit pricy.  Undecided

@DragonChilde: Congrats of Slytherin HoH!

So glad to see you've taken charge of Divination and The Kitchen!

@FiberAlchemist: Originally it was just going to be for Gryffindors but I was so excited about it I wanted everyone else to be able to join in too. Smiley I'm glad you're excited!

Welcome back fellow Gryffindor! AWESOME sweater! I am in love! And your watercolor is beautiful! I think the hair is my favorite part.

I just want to stay home and craft! but I don't think my boss would be too happy with that. Last year I thought about making different kinds of snowflakes to hang from my ceiling at work but only made a few tatted ones. Charms home work inspired these to add to them.

Class: Charms
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Let it Snow!
Project Description: 4 perler bead snowflakes

thanks whisterfish, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only uk hpcer. I could probably send inside Europe - there are a couple of us on the continent, are any of you others planning on joining?

I'm always up for swapping hexies, felt badges,or TM patches (or anything, really!) - PM me Cheesy

I got my a few more little projects done last night... these are all store brought cotton handkerchiefs which I've hand embroidered as a christmas present

Class: Astronomy
Ravenclaw scavenger hunt; natural fibres (cotton)
House: Ravenclaw

I have taken inspiration from the icy blue colour of Europa here

Challenge: DA Protean
House: Ravenclaw

The recipient is a librarian, so she will understand the code I have used here - it's the dewey decimal system, the number represents 'Nose' (on a hankie - geddit? Cheesy )

Challenge: DA Reductor
House: ravenclaw

I've reduced the name to just initials so it fits in the tiniest possible space Smiley and if you fold the whole thing up, it's much smaller than 3x3x3 inches!

Hai!!!  Cheesy

I'm new.

First year, first project woot,woot!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Dumbledore's Army
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Fear of a Name
Project Page Link (if available): How To Finger Chain Red Heart Sashay Scarves
Brief Description:
So, I'm not much a crocheter. I have the hooks and things and dabble but I have only finished a few lopsided scarves in my time. Anyway, I was at Walmart with my mom when she saw this Sashay yarn in Tango on sale for a like $3 (normally like 7$), and on the side of the bin they were in, showed a picture of how to make a finger chained scarf, and to find out how to check out the Red Heart Website. And my mom thought this was neat and wanted me to make her one so I bough the yarn. This was 3-4 months ago.

Anyway, I've been siting here the past few months trying to figure out how to do this.  I have restarted the thing like 6 different times. I wasn't happy with my loops because they were no as even as they could be. I'm sure some of you are thinking this would be easy to do, but my crochet skills are terrible at best. I could never give anything that un-uniform to my mom because she's a perfectionist, if it's not good enough she won't like it. She's very exhausting that way. Anyway, after watching this video for the 100th time I did exactly as he was doing with his hands and started making loops I liked, and in about 45 minutes (the man in the video said it would only take like 10-15, but I'm slow) I had a prettily chained scarf I can actually give my picky mother for Christmas. Below is a pic of my finished scarf as modeled by my soon to be 12 yr old daughter.
