hey guys
firsly i apologise if this is in the wrong section, im new here!

i found this lovely necklace that i know my friend would love
(not allowed to post images yet)

however, it's $40 and i dont have that sort of money!
im also getting her other things

im quite experienced in making jewellery, but i have no idea where to start on this one

i dont know where i would find the things to make it and i dont even know how i would make the tube things with the beads in or the ends of the tubes!

can anyone help with some links of where i can get a few of the items needed to make this?
even if you cant contribute everything, any chance someone could push me in the right direction?

thanks all x

Well, it looks to me like they used little tiny glass vials of some sort for the tubes, and bead caps that fit them for the ends.  I bet they used a super strong epoxy or glue like E6000 to hold the ends on the glass.

Well, I take that back.  I surfed Fire Mountian for a little, and found what might be the exact thing.  (if not, it will give you a good place to start off your search)
It is a focal bead metal component, acrylic tube not glass like I guessed..

The flat portions with multiple loops that the vials are attached to look like bracelet or necklace ends for multi strands.  Spacer bars or something like that?  Humm...  YES spacer bars!

It appears the whole thing is strung on a chain of matching metal.  Cool.

You know, I'd look around the webpage, or any other beading supply page now that you know what the things are called, and figure out which styles and colors are best for your friend.  Cheesy

Good luck!  Looks like a fun necklace.  Do post the finished project too.  I can't wait to see how yours comes out.

Looking to de-stash cross stitch magazines, particularly Cross Stitch Gold or New Stitches?  Please drop me a line!  I'd love to swap or buy some missing from my library!

I work at Joann's, and we sell those vile/tube things, as is, in our jewelry section.  Smiley
