The stuff I found today was around 4 bucks.  And it was in the candle area...I was expecting the fine arts area too.  I had heard of conservators wax, and sort of thought sticky wax would be the same.  The two first places I went to tried to sell me the poster putty, but it was in bright colors.  At least this stuff is clearish.  I'll let y'all know when I get home and get a chance to use it Grin

lol I doubt if I would actually glue things down...I tend to take things apart when they no longer suit me and make something else...I have been known to frog a scarf or shawl to make them into something else...

I really need a display case for oddities...that is what I am hoping to do! Grin

I frog scarves too.

BTW, FWIW just saw one of those same sewing boxes go via auction for just over $60.  (With the legs.)

I think that sewing box would make the best wall mounted shrine ever.

whoa!  I am going to keep my eyes out for unusual things to make shrines with!

hey--this group is good on using alternative materials/junk for other things...any ideas to help a fellow craftster?

Look what I am going to repurpose!

My brother found it at a yard sale and brought it to me yesterday...I could use it for it's original purpose of holding sewing notions, but I already have that under control...what else can I use it for?  Ideas?

Should I paint it or leave it as is?

I was thinking of turning it on its side (the legs are missing...) and making it into a mega shrine...hubby said he could mount it on the wall (or else it can't be open using those hinging things...)...What do you think?

Hey, did you do something with this? I have one but it's awkward for sewing things.

I was gifted one of those with legs. It was coming unglued in areas so I fixed it. I then donated it to our church tag sale. Someone looked up the maker of this and found out it was worth over a hundred dollars, so they featured it in the silent auction. Made us some bucks. I loved it but had no room for it. It would make a beautiful display/shrine if you can figure out how to mount it, though it would stick out from the wall. But over a table or shelving unit, it might work.

Wow!  I totally forgot about that!

I was just thinking that I need a place to put a lot of shrines and other small works of art...you have one, too?  hmmm...maybe we can collaborate and make something cool with these...

I think this weekend I can start by putting some hangers on the back...not sure if I want to deal with the wood, but the inside would be nice to paint a light color and then use papers or something in the back...what else can it be besides a display case?

I am going to look at Pinterest and see...

No, I donated it to our church tag sale for our awesome Holiday Fair. I thought it was just a used piece of furniture and it turned out to be something cool. But I couldn't use it or store it anyway. it would make a wonderful curio cabinet.

I am getting rid of the one I have too, it's unweildy and I don't have a space it would work for display. It's on legs and is old but you can find them all over the place for $40-$60 here.
