It's a long story.

I use freezer paper too and a brush and go (sorta) slow. I am not that patient. But I had a complete screw up of one recently, I thought that a quick blast of heat from the iron after painting, would remelt the wax and make the freezer paper stencil easier to remove in one go. I have found if you get it off in one go, you can often reuse it.

I have no idea why, but the iron seemed to heat fuse the paper to the fabric, i washed it, soaked it tried everything and was reduced to picking it off tiny piece by tiny piece and there was still a lot of glue left over..

be warned, not fun!

I had that happen twice! The only thing I could figure was that I hadn't pre-washed one and the other I was pretty sure had been treated with fabric softener or something.

I've noticed my stencils are more likely to bleed if I don't use 100% cotton or if it's something like twill where the fabric is thick and the weave not quite even.

I tend to get impatient with freezer paper stencils and put a lot of paint on quickly. But, if I put it on in several layers, the freezer paper starts to ripple, and I get leaks. So, my best strategy is to work quickly! Then, I peel the paper off after a few minutes- it's started to dry, but not completely, and the freezer paper doesn't stick.

The worst job I ever did was using multiple layers of glow-in-the-dark fabric paint. Even after multiple washings, there are still bits of the freezer paper embedded in the edge of the design!

I have a quick question. I'm trying to make sure I've got things right before I post my projects.

Okay.....so the UFO sighting.....is this something I can submit on it's own.
Like, any UFO can earn points (plus the water UFO bonus points) all on it's own.

OR

Is UFO something that isn't a standalone project, but it HAS to fit under another category ....like picking team Yeti, and then getting bonus points for it being a UFO.

UFO sighting is a prompt on its own, though any project can get UFO bonus points.  It's an extra UFO opportunity!

I am about to start working on my October Battle Royale project. In my head, it's easy... fingers crossed it matches with reality!

Good luck!  I just tore mine apart and am re-making it... here's hoping this version goes well!

I think we were both cursed! I completely botched mine, and had to regroup Sad Your Yeti hoop came out great, so it was worth the extra effort!
