My goal is to actually start using my junk journal for something, ha!

This is a neat little tutorial:

I have received a few beautiful ones and am so afraid of messing them up with my own stuff...I most touch them, flip through them for inspiration, etc.

I am going to make one and I am sure I will actually use it to keep my myriad of thoughts in one place...

Another Junk Journal - don't know its purpose yet but will probably be a place for leftover bits and pieces.

Inside cover is spray-inked paper:

Inside pages are maps, Gelli prints and other stenciled and painted papers:

It is super chunky so I used the file bands as a temporary binding - I did measure to add holes and grommets.
I just think it is easier to work with loose pages and I can subtract pages if it gets too fat.

I usually add paper or fabric on the inside of the spine for more stability but this paper matched the colors of the cracker box and the spine just had the nutritional info.

I have about 5 more of these started - but I will have to give them away because I cannot possibly fill all of these books!

Forgot to add the book is 7.25" tall, 5.25" across and under 1.5" thick.

I did glue some of the thinner papers together using Nori paste - it dries fairly quickly and no bumps!

I have never heard of file bands...what a great way to keep the pages together and still be versatile enough to add or subtract pages!

I hope I have my papercraft room set up soon so I can have a space to work on some journals...I certainly have the materials..

Lovely job...and I do learn so many things from you, Smmarrt!

I found mine at one of the office stores - about the same price.

That is really beautiful. I don't think I can do that, nothing I try with paper turns out quite so nice. I'll have to keep practicing, thanks for the inspiration!

Enabler alert!

Artists and Craftmen Supply has Marabu spray acrylics on sale for $3.00 a bottle - there are over 20 colors.  http://www.artistcraftsman.com/sale/marabu/marabu-art-spray.html
I first bought some from Blitsy (2nd addictive site, sorry!) and they retail for $6.99 regularly.

You can buy/order and pay with your Amazon account - uh oh. I have an Amazon store card! I do have a brick and mortar A&C store here in SF but it's far away so it's a destination for me.

Deco Arts also has spray acrylic paints (only about 12 colors) - I do like them also and I think they cost $4.50 - $5 retail.  https://decoart.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=53ed88c365b76b5e5db55da1d9f99b5c&Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=D&Category_Code=MMM

Acrylic sprays are great for coloring paper quickly and for use with stencils. And because they are acrylic - they are permanent when dry, unlike the Distress Sprays. I use them on top of Gelli prints and as I said- to color papers quickly.

Don't blame me if you blow your tax refund on these!   Grin Grin Grin

(P.S. I posted this in the Paper & Mixed Media Craft along thread also.)
