So what does Craftster mean to me? Trying something new, finding the right tutorials and sharing what we have created of course! My entry for this challenge combines all of these things in the best way only Craftser can! Cheesy

Way back in 2006 ago I decided that having never done anything like this before I wanted to make myself a bag. I stumbled upon the Messenger bag tutorial and a light went of in my brain! My 1st bag was based on the "Messenger bag with Gusset" tutorial but made to my own pattern Smiley (I never like starting 'easy' on anything!)

This was to be the begining of a passion that has led me to design & make my own bags many times over and even to have been commissioned for a couple of really special bags.  Grin

Fast forward to this year (and many, many bags later) and I'm told by my physiotherapist that maybe I need to stop always using a messenger bag Sad and that I should switch to a backpack style. Well some days I can get away with just a backpack but other days I really need a messenger so I immediatley thought "I can make myself a bag that does both. I'm sure Craftster has some tutorials on backpacks too" and sure enough they do!

Therfore I'm please to introduce the Messenger Backpack!

Now I will be honest and say that the above 'backpack' picture was taken when I first finished the bag and before I realised that by attaching D-rings to the strap and snap fastenings to the bag I can move the straps more efficiently to however I need them for the day  Cool

so for 'backpack' days:

.....and for 'messenger' days:

It is made using dark, almost black demin and lined with a beautifully soft cotton plaid. I also had fun with the frayed edge heart on the front.

Word to the wise - wash the denim BEFORE you sew your bag! You would not believe how much the colour runs!!

As is usual for my bags it has a zippered underflap for additional security. This is my own design and has taken several bags to perfect. The zipper pull is a cute silver plated heart which I found on the street.

So, Thank You Craftster. Thank you for the tutorials, for the amazing people who share their creations and how to make them. Thank you for giving me the confidence to try making something new and in the process discovering a new passion....and thank you for the Messenger bag!!

Thank you Craftster! Happy Birthday!!
