My nephews turned six this year!  They recently read a Choose Your Own Adventure book so I decided to make one for each of them where they are the protagonist!  I combined it with a game they love to play, UNO, the card game.

Here is the cover.  I was able to find a mockup of the cover art and inserted my own images.  I also tried to find a font that looked similar to that very recognizable CYOA book font.

On several of the pages, which references other characters in an UNO tournament (the plot involves cheating by stealing cards and using cheating tips), I made several "case files" with competitors' facts.  I also made one with my nephews' own photo and a blank card for them to fill in with wacky facts of their own.

One of the endings in each book involves the protagonist being awarded for his bravery and honesty, as well as a reward.  Here is a newspaper mockup and a reward envelope which contains a gift card....

and a certificate of recognition:

It was pretty hard to plot out various endings and to make sure I referrred/didn't refer to things that happened/didn't happen in the various storylines.

I had an awesome time making it!  Although I'm sure I fudged one of the storylines.  Thanks both for your awesome comments!

The amount of thought and planning that went into this is astonishing! Our kids are making board games at school right now and it is not an easy task to design even the most simple thing. I can not imagine writing a story about an alternative playing of an established game. Seriously amazing, you are one awesome auntie!

I loved choose your own adventure! And only tried my hand at writing one once, and once was enough! So many moving parts!

This is an incredible gift!  Supremely excellent!
