That's wicked cool! Oh, and I believe you should keep the seat as is.

Oh, if anyone could check out my thread about the flip-flops and comment I would really appreciate it.

you could use something like this : http://www.lickbike.com/productpage.asp?PART_NUM_SUB='1200-04' to cover the handlebars.

is the seat leather ? then you could just paint that too ?

I happen to own the twin to your bike and I can offer up one word of wisdom: you're rear will thank you if you just spring for a new seat!

I soldiered on with my original one for years, enduring it's padded like a rockness. Recently I bought a seat produced by a company called "Nirve" that offers newer cruiser bike styled accessories. It's the greatest thing I've ever done for my bike riding enjoyment, and it's made my bike look 10x hotter.

If you absolutely want to keep the original look of the seat I would either paint over the blue with a different colour (the duct tape will get sticky and leave residue on your pants) or look on e-bay for the same seat in different colours (they produced quite an array... I've seen ones in violet and ones in a maroon that might look good)

Ok... so I've babbled a bit, but I hope you find this helpful. I'm a cruiser bike fiend so I like to help others get the same level of enjoyment out of their bikes. Smiley

OMG please don't put duct tape on the seat! It's a vintage Schwinn!! I have been looking for another one for years!! I vote for a sewing a seat cover. I have (well, had my friend crashed it last week) an old cruiser and I just made a zebra seat cover for it. I was planning to paint mine too.

If you were looking to buy some bike parts, I like to check out the website for electra bikes or just google "cruiser bikes" - I'm a total bike junkie and am fixated on skulls, and I've found handle grips and valve caps with skulls on them, plus streamers, baskets, and seats!
What is the color name you used? It's totally hot!!
