A long time ago I found this tutorial to make a backpack purse: http://pinoyinoz.blogspot.com/2008/07/tutorial-city-backpack.html

It is exceptionally easy to follow and you end up with a beautiful bag afterwards! I had someone ask if it could be made larger to accommodate a mom and her many baby items. So, I followed all the same steps except I added 2" to each of the pieces: length and width to create a roomier bag that will hold much more!!  I also added pockets to the inside, a zipper pocket on one side for Mom's essentials and two bottle pockets on the other side. And if you don't have a baby, these pockets ares till great for water bottles or sippy cups. These are NOT elastic but could easily be changed to that. I personally do not like elastic pockets so I stay far away from them!

The front/side view showing the drawstring and accent stripe on the flap.

Inside pockets:

Adjustable straps to fit Mom or Dad!

And another front view:

The backpack has a magnetic snap and drawstring closure with one of those sliders on it to keep it tight. I like the yellow and grey Smiley

This looks fantastic! I don't even have kids yet, but I want it!  Cheesy

This is one of the best diaper bags ever - functional and attractive.  I love that it is baby appropriate without being baby-ish.  Great job.

One is less than three.

I like the gray chevron with the yellow lining, this combination is so sweet!

Great job on the color combo.

I'm going to check out the tutorial and make one this weekend.

I love  it!  Shocked

The color and pattern combo is very fresh and modern and you would never even tell it was a diaper bag. I'd love to have something like this to carry around at Uni instead of my painful shoulder bags.

Definitely going to check out that tutorial!

Dude, I just want that backpack in general! Love the fabric you picked for it as well. It's very modern and definitely does not scream diaper bag.
