this reminds me of a sad stroy in which a woman goes around teh world looking for aborted babies. she washes them, clothes them in brand new baby clothes, sings them a lullaby names them and burry;s them regardless of the state of decomposure theyre in.

I remember hearing about that.  Well, at least they had a woman like that on that one reality show about the family that owns the funeral home.  But they only do it for babies that were born & abandoned.  Gave them a name, an outfit, a blanket and a toy for their casket.

My husband's college roomate dabbled in taxidermy, and to pass the time one winter he gathered squirrel carcasses and designed an entire scene of squirrels in a bar -- playing pool, sitting around drinking beer, shooting foosball -- he made the little pool table with balls, cues, everything.  It was hysterical in a 'I can't believe you did that with dead squirrels' kind of way.

Okay that's pretty damn funny.

I agree........maniacally laughing.

The best part?  he actually sold it to one of those generic chain steakhouse places that you see everywhere (Logans, Texas Roadhouse, Laredo) for a couple thousand dollars.

Is this guy your husband?HuhCheesy  http://www.roadsideamerica.com/attract/WIMADdead.html

I also once saw a woman on hgtv or something who made victorian dolls out of dead kittens (natural causes...but still...ick...)

I have  a VERY low threshold for dead animals, artistic or not. Yet they are weirdly fascinating, I must admit. As kids we had an elderly relative who was an avid hunter. My cousins and I would double-dog-dare each other to PEEK into his taxidermy room. They had lots of weird stuff like lamps made out of deer legs. It was kinda disturbing.

ok, those were pretty bad.  And the amateur ones that my husband's friend did were better made..... ewwwwww

those pickled pets made me want to cry, especially he kitten. as weird as some of us are, does anyone really want a hairless, dead kitten floating in a jar.

i enjoy creepy crafts but more along the lines of sassetteopant's battered lady tins.

but, to each his own, right?

Actualy I found that one quite neat.  and I have 4 cats.  I thought it would make me sad, but I think its beauitful.

This needs a bump, 'cause I love it. I've been vegetarian my ENTIRE life, vegan for a year and I still adore this kinda stuff. Check out http://www.elizabethmcgrath.com too, I REALLY hope she works humanely but I'm not sure. Sad

One of the other craftsters made Liz McGrath's wedding dress! I believe it's Hemi*Housewife. There's a thread on here somewhere with a link to her wedding pictures, it's absolutely stunning!
