Everything has been amazing so far!
Here is my great package from rhymesworange. I got an adorable No Face bookmark, amigurumi totoro and the robot from castle in the sky. My very favourite though is the fantastic hand spun yarn in the colours from ponyo. My picture doesn't do these yarns justice, they are stunning and i can't wait to use them. Thank you again rhymesworange, i love everything!

I am oh-so-late on posting this- life of a children's librarian during the Summer Reading program is *insanity*. Anyhoo, I'm going to include pics of what I received from my partner, Lmseeley, as well as what I crafted for her.

Unfortunately, Lmseeley's post office marked the package I sent her as 'un-deliverable', and as of now, I am still waiting for it to arrive back at my place so I re-send it.   Cry Lindsay, I'll send you an email once I receive and send it back out.

Lmseeley sent me four small but great pieces of handcrafted Miyazaki goodness: two soot sprites that seem to be weaved somehow (so cool) and two tiny paintings inspired by Princess Mononoke, one of my favorite Miyazaki films.

How cool, right?! And the paintings are so simple but beautiful, which I love. Thanks again, Lindsey! The sprites have already made a home for themselves on my bookshelf and I'm still trying to decide where I want to hang the paintings because I want to see them all the time Cheesy All that being said, Lindsey: do NOT read past this point!! I don't want to spoil your package for you.  Wink

Despite being insanely busy with work, I managed to make Lindsay quite a few little pieces which I hope she likes. To give you a size reference, I took some pictures with the pieces on my strangely tan-looking hands.  Huh Anyhoo, onto the pics!

Piece 1: a mini Totoro outdoorsy scene made with Sculptey clay & glazed.

The obligatory Totoro-back picture.  Wink

Piece 2: a pair of Culcifer earrings; Sculptey with a glaze.

Piece 3: a soot-sprites-in-a-bottle necklace. I bought about 4 packs of star beads- none of which fit!- before thinking: "hey, sprinkles are cute! Soot sprites would totally eat sprinkles." And thus, the soot-sprite-sprinkle (say that three times fast) necklace was born! The sprites were made out of the tiniest black pom poms I could find, which I then cut down not only to fit into the bottle, but to give them a not-totally-perfect appearance. The teensy-weensy eyes were just painted on.

Also, keep in mind that even though the sprinkles look big, they're totally 'standard size' sprinkles- making this a *tiny* necklace.

Piece 4: this is the only piece I did not end up being pleased with, but I sent it to Lindsay anyway (with an explanatory note) because I figured she might like it anyway. I wanted to sculpt a Cat Bus and it ended up looking like a demented Disney character, at least in my hyper-critical opinion. Le sigh. Sculptey clay once again with glossy acrylic paint and a gloss top coat.

Pieces 5- A Lot: I went a little crazy making a bunch of Miyazaki magnets. I found the images on Pinterest, played with the contrast before printing, ran them through a laminator, and then just added magnet strips to the backs.

Here is everything together- I also made a bookmark out of an adorable Hayao image, adding corresponding purple ribbon on top (bottom right).

I wrapped everything up in some fun hippie-esque fabric I had left over from a project to add some protection, bubble-wrapped everything, and I just had to throw in some authentic Japanese stationary and stickers I had lying around. I rarely have such an appropriate use for them!  Cheesy

Hope you enjoyed! Can't wait to see what everyone else has been crafting and receiving.

I'm thinking the same thing  Cheesy I especially love that Totoro hoop, Mononoke canvases and Ponyo inspired yarn. Your crafts for Lmseeley are also cool bittersweet_symphony.

Now for the awesome crafts I recieved from Ryn  Cheesy I feel bad I haven't put it up before now - life conspired against me.

I received a cutie-pie soot sprite hoop in this really cool/interesting metal hoop (is it really an embroidery hoop Ryn or re-purposed from something else?). And I love altered matchboxes and tins and Ryn made me these great matchboxes that have DVD cover art and little clay figures inside - Totoro and kodama from Mononoke - 2 of my favourite things about Miyazaki.

Thanks for swapping with me Ryn and helping increase my Miyazaki obsession  Grin

Glad you liked what I made! It is really an embroidery hoop. My mom gave me all her embroidery stuff from when she was younger, so it's decades old, I can't say for sure if it was a normal hoop back then either, but that could explain it.

Hey guys - got back from the Con and ... boom. My camera broke. Mini_moose - would you be able to post pictures of the things you sent??

I feel like a jerk because I just realized that I never posted pictures of the awesome package that Rae-mazing sent me. My life is a bit of a big crazy mess right now.

Calcifer hoop! I love him.

And an absolutely adorable painted Totoro bag. I've been needing a new makeup bag (my old one is too small) and this is perfect. Sorry, the picture is blurry and really doesn't do it justice.

Super cute mushroom lining.

Thank you so much Rae-mazing!!!
