I just literally finished this necklace about 30 minutes before I had to take it to the fair grounds. I have entered it into the San Diego County Fair for 2013. It is made of a beaded, netted base with 9 handmade flowers attached, 1 leaf, and a bunch of little Leafettes."
Now that it's done I think it kind of reminds me of a lei.... but nonetheless this is my "secret garden"...

Each flower was handmade bead-by-bead, petal-by-petal... Each flower is about an hour to an hour and a half from start to completion.

I wasn't really sure how to close the back... and then I remembered I received some buttons in a craft swap and used a couple of them to make the "clasp" for the back

Here are just some pictures with different aspects

And finally what it looks like on!

Let me know what you think! Enjoy!

OMG what a stunner!  I've done just a little bit of beading, enough to appreciate how much work you put into this, amazing. Had to come back, I forgot to hit "This rocks", added it now.

Lovely!  You put so much time and work into an absolutly stunning piece!  Best of luck at the fair with it!!!  I bet you will win.  Smiley  I really like the buttons as a closure too.

Beaded flowers are something I want to figure out myself!
Do you have a favorite webpage or book you recommend?

That's not a necklace, it is a statement! Very pretty Beck!

Something to wear with a very simple dress, an eyecather really.
Now I can see why you're not around that much anymore, hahaha.

Of course I hit this rocks and I wish you luck at the County Fair with your statement  Wink

Listessa - Thank You. I use Pinterest alot... if you look at mine, I have a Board with only beaded flowers. Also I used this great book found on Amazon... it's called "The Beaded Garden"
Here is the link above.

Wendiek - Thanks! My thumb still hurts from all the beading! It's a bit heavier piece! But I have an awesome black dress and top to wear it with...I can't wait to get it back now!

The fair begins June 4th.... they post the results within the first week of the fair... I barely finished it in time to drop it off and now I won't get it back until July 5th! I told my husband I was a little sad last night because I didn't get to spend that much time with it before I had to take it.... next year I start earlier! Ha ha!
