Rockin' the baubles all around town...

Hi, hi, everyone!

I've been absent from this site for a number of years now, mostly due to 'life' in general, but I'm back on track to getting my craft on Smiley

In other news, I'm getting married on October 8th this year!!  Super excited!  I've been creating a few wedding crafts here and there, mostly just decorating some store-bought items like birdcages and lanterns.  We're doing a renaissance/medieval-inspired, Celtic-style wedding.  My fiance is Scots-Irish, and we're both heavily into the medieval time period for events, dress, and other aspects of our lives, so it was just a fantastic fit.  Decorations are mostly a whimsical-woodsy feel, lots of flowers and greenery, fairies, toadstools, gnomes, stuff like that.

I found this inspiration pin HERE and crafted my creation from these photos.

Here's the finished product!!  I'm VERY impressed with how it turned out.  I really didn't know exactly how I was going to construct it, but I thought about it for the last couple months and figured it out.

And here's a few of it on my head.  There will be a white chiffon 'veil', like this worn under it for the ceremony, and then it will be just on my hair for the reception like it's shown here now.

I think it's perfect!  I love the extra fullness that I created on mine versus the inspiration piece.  May swap the lace on the back for either white or sunny yellow satin ribbon, not sure yet.  Will have to try the piece on with my dress and decide later on.  Dress is being custom-sewn by a local seamstress in my town.  Because it will be handmade, I'll post it in the sewing board with the creator's permission if I'm allowed.

Thanks for looking, comments/questions welcome Smiley

I think it turned out nicer than your inspiration piece!  I do like the white lace ties.

We do have a Weddings Board under Occasions if you want to get more ideas or post there.

Thanks, Always!  I wasn't sure if we had one or where it was.  Can I move this thread, or does a mod need to do that for me?

Welcome back and congratulations.  I like the inspiration piece and the rustic-twiggy look of the base, but yours is nicer and fresher looking with the lace ties and the use of the yellow blooms - looks great!

Lovely!  I did a flower wreath for my wedding and tied the veil to it.  After the ceremony, untied the veil and didn't have to worry about snagging it.  I had 1/4" ribbons trailing down the back.

I used silk flowers; the wreath still looks good 30 years later!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! This turned out beautifully.  I love that there are two bands of flowers.

Thanks, Afloral!  I loved the twin bands.  As you can see in the photos, I have pixie short hair, so anything I can do to decorate my head without the use of hair styles is welcomed Smiley
