I made this art doll for erica_tattoos for the art doll round 2 swap. erica has a lot of great themes to choose from--and i couldn't settle on just one. so i combined "mermaids" and "frida kahlo" and this is the doll that happened Smiley

i used small jewelry rings for earrings and found a flowery glass bead that's reminiscent of the flowers that she wore in her hair.

i combined a Mexican-theme fabric with a turquoise tail.  she's been gesso'd so she has a sculptural feel to her

i made a shawl and did some stitching on that. that was a final touch that i'm really glad worked out

a Frida quote on the back

thanks smmarrt for organizing this awesome swap!!

She looks awesome! I love the two themes together in the first place, but the addition of the quote just makes it even better!

"I can make that!" has been the start of more misadventures than I can count Cheesy

Amazing doll, Susan! I love the combination of themes, and her face is so, so great! The shawl, the tail, all the little details combine to make this one fantastic art doll!!
