There is an abundance of May Apples in the woods around our home.  (Did you know that the faeries live under the May Apples?)  Since none was living under this particular leaf, I used it to make my May Apple bowl.  After pressing the leaf into a slab of clay, I cut around it, removed the leaf & draped the clay over a mold.  By pressing the separate "Petals" together I was able to form a very different looking bowl.  Hardly resembles a May Apple leaf any more but I'm real pleased with this piece.

I don't know what a May Apple is, but I really like this bowl! What a great idea.

I went into the front yard & took some photos of some May Apples.  The umbrella shaped leaves grow thru out the woods in patches that are about knee high---Don't they look like little Faery villages?  Most of the stems have 2 branches & the little blossom grows at the base of the V.  You can see the apple beginning to grow in the center of the blossom.  It will get to be an inch or so in diameter.  The leaves themselves easily grow to be about a foot across.  I've heard the apples serve some medicinal purpose but don't know what.
