I just finished the skirt of the Lolita outfit I want to wear to the upcoming local anime convention in two weeks.  I'm happy with how it came out, plus I got to use up the "several yards of pink doily," as my husband called it, that I've had for quite some time.  I still need to finish up on the blouse to wear with it, I bought it thrift, but the sleeves were too tight.  After a lot of fussing with it I realized I had to redo the sleeves entirely.  I'm about 3/4 of the way through that process, I'll add pics of it all together once I get there, and hopefully some action shots from the convention!

The blouse is now done, the sleeves have been entirely replaced with puff sleeves that actually fit!

Thanks!  Smiley

I started out with this tutorial https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=242947.0#axzz2So0bvdMr , but I had to change some things to make it work for my shape and the amount of fabric I had.  I only had two yards, so I cut a strip for the straps, and strips for the front and back waistband and waistband facings.  This left me with about a yard and a half, which I cut down the fold and sewed end to end into a tube for the skirt.

The waistband was the most involved part.  I have a little bit of a belly, so a one piece straight waistband wasn't going to cut it.  I cut a muslin for that, which I used as interfacing once I was done, and fiddled with putting in darts in the back.  I needed to take a big dart in the middle of the front, so when I cut the eyelet down from the big strip I started with I used the muslin as a pattern and made a curved waistband in the front.

Once I got the waistband made, I added trim, straps to the back, pleated the skirt and lining to the waistband, put in the zipper and waistband hooks, and finally sewed the straps to the front.  The lining has a net ruffle gathered to it to give it a little volume.
