Just got this sucker out of the wash. I finished it last night and the baby shower is today at 2:30 - nothing like waiting until the last minute. This was the first time I ever worked with Minky Dot - I love that stuff! It's difficult to tell in the photo, but the thin border is a solid pink while the zigzag is a subtle tone on tone pattern. The baby's room is pale blue with yellow/white chevron curtains and pink accents. I hope she likes it...

What a bright and colorful quilt. The baby will love looking at it.

Super cute! I'd like to work with minky sometime but I'm scared! Cheesy

Thanks for the compliments.

Don't be scared. I asked for tips on working with minky on another message board and they gave me these tips:
- Use spray basting - it's expensive, but worth EVERY cent.
- Pin the bejezus out of it - it's slippery and likes to slide around while you're sewing, the spray basting actually took care of that problem for me, but I pinned the heck out of it just in case.
- When possible, try to quilt/sew with the nap of the minky. I quilted in the ditch, so this wasn't always possible, but I found that once it was washed, it really wasn't evident at all
- use a walking foot - I actually forgot to change out to a walking foot and didn't have an issue.

I bet that's so snuggly! Lovely color choices too.
