I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

My son gave me free rein on decorating his birthday cake this year so I thought it was appropriate that I made Grumpy Cat. The cake is from a box (!) that I altered with The Cake Doctor white cake recipe and I've added the frosting recipes below.

                Buttercream Frosting

             1 cup shortening
             1 cup sweet cream butter

8 cups confectioners' sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup heavy whipping cream

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and butter until fluffy. Add sugar, and continue creaming until well blended. Add salt, vanilla, and 6 ounces whipping cream. Blend on low speed until moistened. Add additional 2 ounces whipping cream if necessary. Beat at high speed until frosting is fluffy.

                Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

                1/2 cup butter

                1/4 cup shortening

                1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 cups confectioners' sugar

                2 tablespoons milk

                1 cup hot fudge topping

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cream together the butter with the shortening. Sift the cocoa with the confectioners' sugar and add to the creamed mixture. Mix together adding 1 tablespoon at a time of milk to keep mixture smooth. Don't add more than 1/4 cup of milk. Add the hot fudge topping and the vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Enjoy!

Thank you, everyone! DS exited his man-cave to see the completed cake and thought it was great, so it was a success. Now to come up with something for an 18 year old...
