I made these brooches for my mom and grandma as mother's day gifts. They are made with wood pieces that I've picked up on the beach or on the hiking trail, and other odds and ends I have collected over the years. Some elements came from my husband's grandfather, who was a jeweler.

This one was for my mom. It's made with a little piece of driftwood from the Jersey shore, some copper wire wrapping, gear charms from the local craft store, and some pearls from the grandpa stash. My mom loves the ocean and I think this will be a perfect fit for her.

The other one is for my grandma. It's made from a piece of wood picked up while hiking with my family. I wood-burned a flower design around a central knot and affixed a little garnet bead to the center. Garnet is my grandma's and my shared birthstone, so I think it will be special for her.

Here's a photo of the backs:

And an action shot:

Thanks for looking! Cheesy

These are gorgeous and extra special because you included elements that are meaningful to your mama and grandma  Smiley

I've never seen found wood fragments used to make brooches (or jewelry period) and they turned out pretty cool!  They're both neat-o, but I like the woodburned flower with the garnet bead center the best out of the pair.  Your Mother and Grandmother will surely love these handmade gifts!

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.
