Tights and leggings with elastic tops are kind of the worst, right? I had this great pair of wool tights I liked to wear with skirts in the colder weather, but the waistband was just one thick strip of elastic. It was difficult to style it in a flattering way because of how it cut into my middle; you probably know how it goes!

Well it was a very easy fix! I used the bottom strip of a t-shirt and serged it onto the waistband after I cut off the elastic.

The seam is on the outside so that it's hidden when the top is folded down, and it's comfortable inside.

Here's how it looks when worn with a skirt! I usually fold the top over like this, it helps hold the tights up since the elastic's not doing the job.

Hope you like the idea! Cheesy

I might have to do this, because I have some awesome argyle tights I don't wear for the same reason. I have to wear a corset with it to get rid of the line. This is super awesome, and I LOVE what you did with the skirt, folding the added band down over it. Fantastic!

Excellent idea. Looks very good too with the top folded over the skirt. Thank you

I did this with my jogging pants to make them more comfy, but I never thought to do it to tights.  Brilliant!

Oh yes, I sure do love your idea! If you want the elastic to fit, you'll end up wearing tights or leggings 2 sizes too big!

Thanks for sharing you solution with us!  Cheesy

Amazing, genius, LOVE IT!  Thanks for giving me such a great idea!  I still haven't lost all of that "baby weight."  What do they call it when your baby is 2?  "Toddler weight?!"
