okay so it's not exactly completed but i needed to share.
i took this from work (it used to have lemonade powder in it):

and papier mached him into this:

now all he has to do is dry and then i can paint him. though i'm torn what colour to make him. do i stick with natural squirrel colours (black, grey, reddish-brown)? or do i make him CRAZY?
any suggestions?

this is also my first papier mache project since i was in like, kindergarten. so any advice is welcome!

I'd say brown would be absolutely adorable!!! I've also seen white squirrels. There's a town in southern Missouri with nothing but white squirrels. They are protected by law though, so no cute little white squirrels as pets.

Awww...he's so cute. Grin

I vote for bright pink.  Or bright green.

Make him fun looking.

A top hat would be a nice touch, but now I'm just pushing it.

I vote for purple, with some lime green chest and ear fuzz, with maybe a bit on the tail Smiley

I'm very biased towards purple though - best color ever!

I vote for fun-looking too...definitely go for creative colouring. You won't be able to make him look realistic anyway, so why not make a crazy cartoony squirrel? I don't know where you live (but I noticed your canadian spelling), but if you happen to live in Ottawa where they have mutant black squirrels maybe you should paint him really bright like a "scare-squirrel" and put him in your yard, keep those black squirrels away! Man, they're bold, and they can be vicious. Anyway, looking forward to seeing the results!

Nice work on the form. Just curious-- which came first, the idea to make a squirrel out of something or the idea to make something out of your lemonade bottle?

Craaaaazy colors!  Make him look like he just hopped out of Wonderland or something.

The last time I did papier mache was in...elementry school...I think! We made snakes. Mine is a total acid trip.  Grin

very very cool....i think you should go with the classic brown and then go funky with the tail-you could go fuzzy green or something?!  Cheesy

i do in fact live in ottawa. it was a long time before i learned that squirrels weren't black everywhere. i think i found out when i was like 14 *lol*

i saw the lemonade container and exclaimed (out loud at work) "i'm going to make a squirrel out of this!" and everyone stopped and stared at me like i was crazy. WELL WHO'S CRAZY NOW? *evil laughter*
