I recently read the book "Night Circus", and I absolutely loved it. Thanks so much to cackle for giving me a copy! I received a 3" memory box from Alpha Stamps, and decided a Night Circus theme would be just the thing to bring it to life. Here's the finished project:

It started out looking like this:

I painted the box black, and then covered the sides with striped scrapbook paper. I then added a border at the top, cut from contrasting paper. Images from a circus collage sheet (also from Alpha Stamps) were cut to fit. I punched out a few orange stars, and then added small seed beads at the tips of all the banners.

The legs were painted and distressed wooden candle cups, and the top finial was made with a wooden egg cup and a large wooden ball, also painted to match. I found the hinge (after much looking!) at Home Depot. Score!

Sides:

I hope you like it. And if you haven't read "Night Circus", by all means, add it to your reading list!

I so enjoy your circus themed projects...this one is no exception, even if it is clowns...the colors are also great...they would even fit in Halloween!

Love it!

Isn't that the ABSOLUTE BEST book ever? The whole thing was just so mesmerizing, I wanted to read it forever. I haven't read a book like that in a long while--- nowadays it's like every book is the same, with a change in character names Sad

I really love your box! I love the clowns' expressions, and the color scheme fits the Night Circus perfectly! Nice work Grin

Ooooo that is so cool, racky!  The little beads on the sides are a beautiful touch.  Love it!  Makes me want to give "Night Circus" another go.

Thanks! I have to give cackle some side credit on the seed beads. I was talking to her on the phone and complaining that the orange rhinestones I had were too big and she was the one that came up with the brilliant idea of using the beads. Smiley

Great facial expression on the clown with his hand to his chin. Like he is plotting the next child he is going to eat scare make laugh.  Wink

So cool. I love The Night Circus! Best book ever and this box "feels" like the imagery in that book.

I like the way you did that box. It made it so much more! You could do so many more themes and styles. I love the way this one is so vintage looking. Awesome!
