NEWT Subject: History of Magic - Students must produce evidence that they did not sleep through all of Prof. Binns lectures.
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Potterwatch Afghan
Brief Description: During the Second Wizarding War, a great many brave witches and wizards worked and fought against Lord Voldemorte and the Death Eaters.  While Harry Potter, Hermoine Granger & Ronald Weasley are three of the most famous, other less well-known people fought just as valiantly.  My NEWT project will be focused on three brave wizards, who worked to not only undermine Voldemorte's reign of terror, but also to bring hope into the hearts and homes of witches and wizards everywhere; Remus Lupin, Lee Jordan & Kingsley Shaklebolt, otherwise known as Romulus, River, & Royal, regular contributors to the underground radio program, Potterwatch.

In this project I will be crocheting an afghan out of Lion Brand Homespun in three colors, one to represent each character.  Earth for werewolf Romulus/Remus Lupin, Lagoon for radio host River/Lee Jordan, and Grape for the future Minster of Magic, Royal/Kingsley Shaklebolt.  The pattern is called Kew Gardens Afghan and is available for free on Lion Brand's Website.  The completed afghan will be a gift for my parents.

***It should be noted that Headmistress Pinkleo has been invaluable as my adviser on this project, and I hope very much to do her proud on this one.

Congrats to the Witches of the Week and the Craftster Best of 2012! **claps and cheers**
I should be working on Snape right now but I'm working on a WIP. I won't be turning it in because it's a second of a project I've already turned in (the washcloth) and it's nothing major.

Challenge: The Horcrux Hunt - Salazar Slytherin's Locket
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Slytherin House Pride Charm Bracelet
Brief Description: In order to hunt down and destroy Salazar Slytherin's Locket I created a new charm bracelet, honoring Slytherin himself.  Ironic, don't you think?  The charms include Cauldron for Potions Class, Hogwarts Express steam engine, spell book, Slytherin's snake, lighting bolt for Harry Potter, Hogwarts castle, Sorting Hat, wand from Ollivander's, house scarf, Dark Mark, quill for doing homework, Hogwarts letter, Slytherin's locket, owl, & potion bottle.

Challenge: The Horcrux Hunt - Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Ravenclaw House Pride Charm Bracelet
Brief Description: Since I've been crafting new charm bracelets like mad, I'm continuing the theme by destroying Ravenclaw's diadem.  The charms include a cauldron for Potions Class, Hogwarts Express steam engine, spell book, Ravenclaw's eagle, lighting bolt for Harry Potter, Hogwarts Castle, Sorting Hat, wand from Ollivander's, house scarf, star for the ceiling & carpets in Ravenclaw Tower, quill for doing homework, Hogwarts letter, Lost Diadem of Ravenclaw, owl, & potion bottle.

Challenge: January Detention
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Hufflepuff House Pride Charm Bracelet
Brief Description: Final project for the day has been sitting on my desk, in-process for 5 weeks now.  I started them during Finals Week of last semester, but with Christmas barreling towards me, I gave up after laying out the charms on my table.  Last week I managed to get the charms on the bracelets, and then finally this weekend I sat down and forced myself to create and attach the bead pins.  Huzzah for cleaning off a section of my work desk!  The charms include a cauldron for Potions Class, Hogwarts Express steam engine, spell book, Ravenclaw's eagle, lighting bolt for Harry Potter, Hogwarts Castle, Sorting Hat, wand from Ollivander's, house scarf, star for the ceiling & carpets in Ravenclaw Tower, quill for doing homework, Hogwarts letter, Lost Diadem of Ravenclaw, owl, & potion bottle.

@noodle-bug: Thanks for the info! I always wanted to know where to get essential oils too. I have some herbal supplements to pick up this week and I'm going to see if they have oils too! I usually never look around in there.

@jennieingram:
So many beautiful bracelets! And I'm very excited for your afghan! I love the colors!

@Foxy Sam:
Yay! Congrats on WotW. It is a pretty genius project!

@pinkleo: Congrats on WotW! I'm still amazed at how many squares you've made in such a short time. Don't your hands hurt? Haha.

Wow! Congrats to everyone on Best of Craftster 2012!

jennie, your bracelets are alwasy so beautiful. I love the ampunt of care that goes into choosing each element, and how you always manage not only a 'theme' but a good unified style too.

Class/ Challenge: Herbology
House: ravenclaw
Project: I can purl Cowl!
So. I have, finally, extended by knitting ability beyond knit stitch. I have learnt to purl! and knit on circular needles, all at the same time! I am super pleased with my new cowl

It is very warm and snuggly, so perfect to troop off to the greenhouses in. and, come mandrake potting session, you can flip it up over your ears for protection; huzzah!

Good for you noodle-bug!  I can't seem to master the purl stitch.  I've given up trying.  Sad
