I have a question. The small item can be a bought item and doesn't have to be crafted, right?  I have my sons birthday party around the time of send outs, I'm not worried about making the cookies but crafting something also might be a bit much for me to take on so close to his party.
yes, this is okay. Sign up welcome.

I love quick and easy swaps!  I moved away from family, so holidays aren't filled with as many cookies as they used to be... so this will be nice.  Cheesy

I am excited!

Snickers Santa Surprise Cookies
You can use your favorite peanut butter cookie receipe or 1 (18oz) tube of refrigerated peanut butter cookie dough

18 snickers minis unwrapped
1 (16oz) container of vanilla frosting
Red and green food color

1. Divide the dough into 1-tablespoon pieces and flatten.
2. Place a Snickers mini in the center of each piece of dough
3. Form the dough into a ball around each snickers mini.
4. Place on non-stick cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 10-      12 minutes, until golden brown.

5. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 3 minutes and then move them to a baking rack or waxed paper to cool completely.

6. Divide the frosting into two bowls. Tint one bowl green and the other red. Place the frosting into separate re-sealable bags. (sandwhich bag). Snip off a corner from each bag and drizzle the cookies with frosting.

Yield:18 cookies.
If you want a firmer dough mix cookie dough with  1/4 cup of flour.

This receipe is my father-inlaws favorite cookies I make for him every year. You may want to double up the batch as they go very fast. Also a little helper to unwrap the mini's helps.

Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cookies
1/2 cup butter(softned no substitutes)
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup baking cocoa
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
48 maraschino cherries, blotted dry

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 to 3 teaspoons maraschino cherry juice.

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. beat in egg and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients, gradually add to creamed mixture (batter will be very firm). Shape into 48 balls , about 1 inch round, place on ungreased baking sheets. Push one cherry halfway into each ball.
For frosting, melt chocolate chips in condensed milk, in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add enough cherry juice to achieve a spreading consistency, still until smooth. Spoon 1 teaspoon of frosting over each cherry (the frosting will spread over cookie during cooking). Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Yield: 4 dozen.

Hmmmm....I was not going to join another swap right now but it seems like almost everyone who signed up said the same thing LOL Not sure what I am going to whip up this year (in general) but I always make magic cookie bars and chocolate chip. This year I think I am going to do some biscotti (peanut butter choc chip, soooo yummy and soft) and something with spices like gingersnaps.
Going to fill out my ?aire right now.... Wink
