I am submitting this on behalf of my mom. She would never put this up for everyone to see, she has no faith in herself.  I wish I had the patience to complete something this detailed. This diorama is one of my most treasured things that she's ever made me. It is a birthday present from last year.  It's a solid wood box, measuring about 8.5 x 5.375. It's 2.5" deep at the bottom, and .75" at the top. The outside is painted and decoupaged. The cover reads "It's What's Inside That Counts". It has vintage images and random things on it, like the Monty Python head.

First she decoupaged the inside for a background. The majority of the diorama is flowers from her garden. She dried them, then painstakingly built them up. It includes shells, feathers, Victorian stickers, acorns, antique buttons and moss. The woman's dress and fan, the bugs and fish are all made of flowers. l don't believe pictures can do this justice, but it gives the general idea.

If you have a question about anything, I'll try to answer the best I can, and I'll be happy to ask her the details.
Have a good day.

Wow, that is amazing; it must have taken a lot  of patience to finish that, and it is sooo beautiful;  I saw some similar flower art at the Philadelphia flower show, but I like your mom's better; it's more colorful and definitely more involved. I hope you have it somewhere where you can see it often!

I'm normally not into this type of thing..dioramas (my mind is quickly being changed by this challenge, however), decoupage, dried-flowers...but this is really beautiful. I love the layers and the imagery. Her love for you shines through in the details...

That is absolutely beautiful!  You are so lucky to have it and your mom is SO talented!    I love the side with the shells.  Although the face on the cover scares me a bit Wink lol.   It's still amazing!
